VFA-97 "Warhawks"

Strike Fighter Squadron 97 (VFA-97), nicknamed the "Warhawks" is a United States Navy fighter attack squadron established in 1967.

 

In TF-77, they fly the F/A-18C, and the squadron is currently commanded by CDR "Hellscream" Bridenburg (CO) and LCDR "Grip" Garrett (XO).

Available Slots and Requirements

Slots Available

  • 16 Full-Time F/A-18C Pilots

    • Minimum of 50% attendance

    • Opportunity to dual-qualify on other airframes within the Task Force. 

  • RESERVE SLOTS - OPEN

    • Members that cannot make 50% of our Tuesday/Thursday training nights will be transferred to RESERVE status. Reserve pilots are always welcome to continue flying with the Squadron and the wing â€‹

Membership Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 

  • Regular attendance to Tuesday and Thursday training nights at 2000 PST

    • Life comes first. If you are unable to attend for any reason, all we ask is you notify your squadron leadership via the Leave of Absence channel. You will never be penalized for missing a night if you put in a LoA​

  • Willingness to self-study, read provided materials, and schedule times with Instructor Pilots  

  • Fortitude to sit through dad jokes, adult humor, and assorted shenanigans

  • Hands-on Throttle and Stick (HOTAS)​​

  • Head-tracking solution OR a Virtual Reality headset

  • Ability to use Discord and SRS (or at least willingness to learn)

  • Ownership of the Syria, Persian Gulf, Supercarrier, and F/A-18C modules

    • NTTR Map is also recommended

  • (Recommended) 25+ Hours in DCS World or other simulator OR Real-World flight experience​
